Me & Charlie
For as long as I can remember, I have played with words. My mother was an expert typist — how her fingers could fly over the old Smith Corona keys! — and I longed to do the same. Little did I know that typing and writing were two different skills, but on some days I believe I do one or the other, and on good days I do both.
I have a bachelor’s and master’s degree in English literature from Indiana University, and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing/Fiction from the Bennington Writing Seminars (graduation 1997).
Besides writing, I infrequently teach creative writing, but my comfort zone is sitting at home at my keyboard, plunking away.
